George J Urban, MD
“The first visit is always stressful. I try to break down the barrier so the patient feels comfortable and reduces his or her stress level. I ask what the expectation is and if it’s a cure, I say right away, we don’t do that. I say that what can happen is a better life with reduced frequency and severity of headache so the patient can get back to doing what he or she wants.”
Dr. Urban is a native of Presov, Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States in 1985, first settling in San Francisco and then moving to the Midwest. He joined the staff of the Diamond Headache Clinic in 1990. He is currently on the staff of Presence Saint Joseph Hospital and is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and a Lecturer in the Department of Medicine (Neurology) at Loyola University of Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine.
Education and Training
Dr. Urban graduated from Safarik University Medical School in 1974, and from there, completed a residency and fellowship in Neurology at the Municipal Hospital, Kosice, Czechoslovakia. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago.
Dr. Urban has a strong interest in the treatment of headache with BOTOX® injections. He has lectured on various headache subjects throughout his career, and is actively conducting research at the clinic.
