What are your office hours?

The office is open Monday to Friday form 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and one Saturday a month based on physician availability. Our nursing phone line is available for calls from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Our physicians may be reached after hours through our answering service.

How will I know if I will need to be hospitalized?

When you are seen at the Clinic for your new patient appointment at the Clinic, your physician will perform an in-depth headache history. Based on his/her findings, you will be given either an outpatient or inpatient treatment plan. It is impossible for us to know what your treatment plan will be until you are seen here as a patient. We also understand that in some cases, you may need to delay hospitalization until your schedule will permit the absence. We are willing to work with you in deciding the best treatment option for you.

How is your Clinic different than seeing my primary care physician?

We only see headache patients. We see about 2,000 new patients a year and 22,000 follow-up patients annually. About half the patients we see are referred by other patients who have improved from our treatment. We not only have an outpatient Clinic but also, we have a satellite hospital unit - and it's the only acute headache treatment unit. People may be admitted to other hospitals for headache treatment, but we have a dedicated headache treatment unit with at least 43 beds.

What types of headaches do you treat?

As the largest and oldest private headache clinic in the United States, we have seen and treated every type of headache. The founder of our Clinic, Dr. Seymour Diamond, was the physician that "put headaches on the map" in the medical community.

I am located outside of the Chicago area. How can you help someone like me?

40% of our patients are from outside of the Chicago area. Patients outside of the Chicago area have found our Advanced Program and Phone Consults to be a helpful option for them.
